Our Social Butterfly

While most babies are soothed by a crib mobile and it helps them drift off to sleep, Emily sees the animals on the mobile as her playmates.

Each time I put her in her Pack N' Play or crib, facing up towards the mobile, she starts smiling and talking to the bears or ladybugs. It's like she thinks they're dancing just for her.

The Last Swim Meet

Christina had her last swim meet of the season - the Divisional Championships. She swam in one event (an early one!!! woo hoo!) and finished in third place out of six swimmers. Unfortunately, she disqualified on a stroke (didn't do it correctly) but we were still really proud of her for finishing the IM (four strokes, four laps in the pool).

That night, there was the end of season banquet. Each kid got their ribbons from the Divisional Championships, a record with their personal records for each stroke they swam, and a "plate award". The plate award is something that Coach Dot does for EACH child on the team - she writes an award for each kid. Christina got the "Most Enthusiastic" award from Coach Dot - noting that at each meet, Christina was always eager to compete and always gave 100% at meets and practices. We are VERY proud of our Broyhill Crest Barracuda!

The Pool

At a week shy of two months old, Emily is the most popular kid at the pool. The kids swarm around her when we get there, and literally line up to take turns holding her.

This is Emily with Angela. Angela is the youngest of the three daughters of the Pool President, Robin. Everyone knows Angela is a baby hog. As soon as we get to the pool, she comes over, asks to hold Emily, then walks around with her telling everyone, "This is Emily, Christina's sister." When she sits, you can see even the little boys all surround her to see the baby. Too cute!

Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Mary's visit!

Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Mary came to Virginia for a visit. As you can see, Emily finds Grandpa very funny. She is smiling and "talking" more... and she's big enough for her high chair!

More smiling at Grandpa!
Smiling for Mommy

When she's really content and eating in the high chair, she puts her foot up on the tray and kicks back. Too funny!

Then we pass out after the bottle.

Family visits are exhausting!

We have a budding artist on our hands!

In an effort to keep Christina occupied after the funeral on Saturday, I gave her my camera. She really surprised us - she's quite talented.

Photos from Mt. Vernon yesterday where she continued to take some breathtaking shots.

Trip to Buffalo

Sadly Grandma O passed away and we made the long trip north to Buffalo to say goodbye. It was good to see so many relatives, although the circumstances were sad.

I learned that there are an awful lot of you visiting that I didn't know were seeing this site. Please leave comments!!

Someone is a morning person!

Emily is starting to take after Daddy, who is more of a morning person than anyone else in this house. She certainly doesn't get it from Mommy or her sister.

She's all smiles when she is fully awake (and changed) and waiting for her bottle. She's got such a precious little smile, but as her mom, I'm a little biased. As you can see, she is still grabbing onto burp cloths like its a security blanket.

EIGHT hours of sleep a night does her well, apparently. For the second night in a row, she went 8+ hours through the night. YES!

She also likes to make funny faces when the camera flash goes off.

Six Weeks!

Here are some 6 week pictures for your enjoyment!

Just hanging out with Mommy...

Catching a nap in her favorite spot - the car seat. Now she's grabbing on to things.... usually Mommy's hair or a necklace. Today, while napping in the seat, she's refusing to let go of a burp cloth - clutching it like a security blanket. While still fussy, she is smiling more and starting to coo and "converse" with some toys, like the fish on the car seat.
